Vanderbilt beat Arkansas in a rain-soaked ballgame.

The Vanderbilt Commodores topped the Arkansas Razorbacks, 4-3, in Skip Bertman League action at Ramparts Ballpark. The player of the game was Vanderbilt pitcher and Monroe, Louisiana native John Gayden. At 5-3, the Commodores have played well so far.

The Commodores got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jason Valentine. For the game, Valentine went 1-5. In the top of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 11th hit of the season gave Vanderbilt a 4-3 lead.

"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Gayden.
