The Washington State Cougars topped the Tulane Green Wave, 6-3, in Rod Dedeaux League action at Berthoud College Grounds. The player of the game was Washington State pitcher and Egypt Lake-Leto, Florida native Gary Compton. The winning pitcher was Compton, now 1-1. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. Eric Martindale locked down his 2nd save.
Dave Allen aided the Washington State cause with a 2-run double in the top of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop went 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
