Owls Win at Mississippi State, 8-5

The Rice Owls beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 8-5, at Crowley College Grounds. Rice designated hitter George Nash earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The Owls are off to a tough start, getting just their 2nd win in 8 games.
The Owls got a big at-bat from catcher Randy Stem. For the game, Stem was 2-4 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI. In the top of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 1st double of the season gave Rice a 5-3 lead.
