Sooners Stun Crimson Tide, 9-6
|
Alabama got a terrific performance from second baseman Julio Barraza, but it wasn't enough to beat the Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma won the Titans Ballpark contest, 9-6. Barraza was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI. Oklahoma reliever Chris Noonan picked up the win to move to 1-0. Adrian McKinley suffered the loss. Zachary Schultz earned the save for Oklahoma, his 3rd.
The Sooners got a big at-bat from second baseman Braiden Reed. For the game, Reed was 1 for 5 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 2nd double of the season gave Oklahoma a 8-6 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Reed.
Losses have been few and far between for the Crimson Tide so far this season. Their record drops to 4-2.
