Un-four-gettable: Hopgood Hits for Cycle
|
Most fans have never seen a player hit for the cycle, and most players have never done it -- but it happened today at Surfers Ballpark. Bill Hopgood of the Stanford Cardinals accomplished the feat against Houston Cougars.
Hopgood went 4-for-5 with 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run in the 8-7 Stanford victory.
"That was one for the grandkids, am I right?" Hopgood said after the game.
Hopgood also scored 3 runs and had 3 RBI in a day to remember for both Hopgood and the crowd at Surfers Ballpark.
Bill Hopgood singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Chris Durkin in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
Hopgood is hitting .417 so far this season with 6 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has 10 hits including 2 home runs, 3 walks and .481 OBP.
