Black Knights Score Late to Upend Mafia, 6-5
|
The Brooklyn Black Knights beat the New York Mafia, 6-5, at Blue Ivy Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Tony Gómez, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a double and a walk. The third-place Black Knights now have a 4-game winning streak.
Rob Koller was the walk-off hero for Brooklyn. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Black Knights catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Koller told the Brooklyn Gazette.
