Hurricanes Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Clemson got a terrific performance from pitcher Efrain Almendares, but it wasn't enough to beat the Miami Hurricanes. Miami won the Gremlins Ballpark contest, 3-2. Almendares was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Miami reliever Andrew Millard picked up the win to move to 1-0. Rich Tygart suffered the loss. The Hurricanes, with just their 2nd win so far in 2033, have yet to catch fire.
The Hurricanes got a big at-bat from center fielder Keith DeLaurentis. For the game, DeLaurentis went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the 11th, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 4th hit of the season gave Miami a 3-2 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said DeLaurentis.
