Cardinals Get Road Win, 9-7
|
The Stanford Cardinals overcame a good performance by Baylor first baseman Vance Morse to knock off Baylor, 9-7, at Wolverines Stadium. Morse hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Julio Uribe sewed up the save, his 1st. Losses have been rare for the Bears, who are now 4-1.
Travis Covert aided the Stanford cause with a 2-run single in the top of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs.
"Glad to get this win," said Covert. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
