The Louisiana-Layfayette Ragin Cajuns grabbed a 5-4 win over the Houston Cougars at Suns Ballpark. Louisiana-Layfayette left fielder Matt Brooks was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk to earn player of the game honors. Louisiana-Layfayette reliever Bryan Knight picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Eric Bogen shouldered the loss. Jim Riggs sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Mike Biggers aided the Louisiana-Layfayette cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the first. For the game, the catcher was 1-4 with a walk.
"I had a good game," said Biggers. "Winning makes it even better."
Louisiana-Layfayette, now 2-3, is off to a slow start.
