Worthey Hits 2 home runs in Golden Bears Win
|
California shortstop Anthony Worthey played a vital role in his team's 7-4 triumph over Arizona. He was 3-4 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for California. J.J. Stewart was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. Donald Barron closed the game out for California, earning his 1st save.
Worthey had a key at-bat for California early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave California an early 4-2 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Worthey said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Golden Bears, now 3-1, have hit the ground running this season.
