Thompson drives in 3 runs, Beavers Move to 2-1
The Oregon State Beavers beat the Arizona State Sun Devils, 15-8, at Palisades Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Jamie Thompson, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 4 times and driving in 3. Mike Thompson earned the save, his 1st, for the Beavers. Oregon State, now 2-1, has gotten their season off to a good start.

Mark Wolter aided the Oregon State cause with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Wolter told the Oregon State Bulletin.
