USC and South Mississippi duked it out at Ballpark of Storm Lake College and the Trojans came out victorious.

USC second baseman Nick Giesler played a vital role in his team's 4-3 triumph over South Mississippi. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for USC. USC is now 1-1.

Giesler had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-1 fastball from Tim Lavin, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Trojans a 4-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Giesler.

"We played hard and won," said Giesler. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
