Victory Pushes Emeralds Record to 82-80
|
The Eugene Emeralds eked out a 4-3 win versus the Bel Air Princes at Philip Banks Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Cristo Cruz, who captured player of the game honors. Cruz got the win, improving to 8-8. He allowed 5 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. Cruz allowed 1 earned run. The Emeralds bumped their record to 82-80 with this latest triumph.
The Emeralds got a big at-bat from center fielder Pat Waxman. For the game, Waxman went 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the second, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Eugene a 2-0 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Waxman said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
