Late Rally by Republic Secures Win
|
The Dallas Texans got a superb performance from pitcher Tony López. Still, it wasn't enough to beat So Cal. The Republic won the game, 7-6. In spite of the loss, López was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. Pin-zhen Au converted his 26th save in 28 tries. So Cal goes to 46-20. The win puts them 3½ games up in their division.
The Republic got a big at-bat from third baseman Jong-min Kim Jr.. For the game, Kim Jr. was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 64th hit of the season gave So Cal a 7-6 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Kim Jr..
