Stewart hits 2 home runs as River Chiefs Squeeze Past Okanagan
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs defeated the Okanagan Lake Monsters, 5-4. Earning player of the game honors was catcher Norm Stewart, who belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The win was Brad Ide's in relief. His record improves to 10-4. Nobutoshi Katayama took the loss for Okanagan. The River Chiefs bumped their record to 96-64 with this latest triumph.
Stewart had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-1 cutter from Nobutoshi Katayama, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the River Chiefs a 5-4 lead. It was the 17th home run of the year for Stewart.
"It was a solid team effort," said Stewart after the game.
