Saints Win in Extras
|
Saints Ballpark was rocking after an exciting Saints win today.
The St. Paul Saints overcame a good performance by Coney Island right fielder Taylor Allen to knock off Coney Island, 10-9, at Saints Ballpark. Allen went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. St. Paul reliever John Benefield picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Ken Pierce took the loss.
The Saints got a big at-bat from right fielder Marc Pederson. For the game, Pederson went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the tenth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 71st hit of the season gave St. Paul a 10-9 lead.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Pederson, "but we got it done."
The Saints, at 84-75, sit in third place in the Lyman Bostock League Dick Williams Division.
