The Bums faced a stiff challenge from St. Petersburg pitcher Brad Leys, but persevered to claim a win at Billy Mathews Field. The final score was 3-2. Leys went 6.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Palm Beach reliever Mario Robles was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Andy Gabbard. Had Ricardo Gómez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gómez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Bums.
