The Chippewa River Chiefs topped the Charleston Panthers, 5-3, in Lyman Bostock League action at Franklin Mountains Field. The player of the game was Chippewa pitcher and Fukui, Japan native Kazue Fujita. Fujita, now 17-11, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. The River Chiefs bumped their record to 95-63 with this latest triumph.

Miguel Rangel was a key contributor to the win for the River Chiefs. In the top of the second with one out, the light-hitting third baseman stroked a double to right. He went 1-4 with a double.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Chippewa manager Eric Rice. "It's usually not just one thing."
