Sting Fall Short, 4-3, at Westside
|
Houston got a terrific game from catcher Neal Thacker. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Westside, 4-3. Thacker was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. Mike Tallman, credited with the win, is now 3-3. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 6 innings. António Aguilar converted his 9th save in 11 tries.
The Road Warriors got a big at-bat from right fielder Tsugunao Adachi. For the game, Adachi went 1-3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Westside a 2-1 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Houston skipper Héctor Flores, "and it cost us."
The 5th-place Road Warriors have won 4 straight.
