Black Squirrels Stymie Bel Air, Take 5-1 Win
|
The Tree City Black Squirrels picked up a win at The Nut House, knocking off the Bel Air Princes, 5-1. Starting pitcher Francis Luck, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Luck, now 7-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 11, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. Sixto Árias got the save, his 2nd in 3 chances.
Travis Hickey's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning was a big one for Tree City. Coming to bat with one out, a runner on 3rd and Tree City trailing 1-0, the second baseman reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run.
"Francis was throwing free and easy," said Tree City manager Ramón Guerrero.
The Black Squirrels bumped their record to 81-73 with this latest triumph.
