Emeralds Come Back Late, Nip Hornets
|
The Eugene Emeralds defeated the Bethesda Hornets, 4-3, at Hornets Field today. Leading the charge for Eugene was second baseman Omar Rodriguez. He went 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Tatsuji Kudo in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Zeke Barnes took the loss. Ángel Velázquez got the save, his 14th in 15 chances.
Rodriguez had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Zeke Barnes, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Emeralds a 4-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Rodriguez.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Rodriguez told the Eugene Gazette.
Bethesda has now lost 4 in a row.
