Panthers Bang Out 8-6 Win Versus Okanagan
|
The Charleston Panthers overcame a good performance by Okanagan shortstop Emanuel Torres to knock off Okanagan, 8-6, at Franklin Mountains Field. Torres was 1 for 4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Charleston reliever Josh King picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-1. Tony Salas was collared with the loss. David Vince got the save, his 2nd in 4 chances.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, third baseman Hung-k'uei Hsiao came through big-time for the Panthers. With Charleston leading 6-2, he belted a 2-run home run.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Hsiao, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
Charleston is now 70-85.
