River Chiefs Stymie Coney Island, Take 4-1 Win
|
Pitcher Juan Lara was sensational for the Chippewa River Chiefs in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Coney Island Cyclones. Lara received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. The win boosts the River Chiefs to 93-62. The loss puts the Cyclones at 66-88.
The River Chiefs got a big at-bat from shortstop Adrián Ferreira. For the game, Ferreira went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Chippewa a 2-1 lead.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Ferreira told the Chippewa Today.
