Gnats Come Back Late to Top Vikings
Nichols pitcher Eddie Ascencio did his part in helping his team beat the Victoria Vikings, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Even with the win, the Gnats have a dismal 52-98 record.

Erik Butler, who is tied for 6th in the BOL in hits with 159, aided the Nichols cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the right fielder went 1-4 with a double.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Butler told the Nichols Citizen.
