The Stroudsburg Shade got a superb performance from catcher Tom Sawyer, but the St. Petersburg Pelicans still won the game, 5-4. Sawyer was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win was Orlando Rivas's in relief. His record improves to 3-6. Francisco Rodríguez took the loss for Stroudsburg. Marlon Douglas converted his 5th save in 12 tries.
In the bottom of the 6th, catcher Andy Clark gave St. Petersburg the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Pelicans had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out single off Stroudsburg pitcher Francisco Rodríguez changed that -- and St. Petersburg went on to win.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Stroudsburg manager Juan Rivera.
The Pelicans are now 68-80, while the Shade fall to 63-86.
