Black Squirrels Lose, 1-0, at Envoys Ballpark
|
Palm Beach right-hander Perry Groenendijk was in fine form, shutting out the Tree City Black Squirrels, 1-0. Groenendijk got the win, improving to 1-5. He allowed 1 hit and walked 4 over 5.2 innings. Groenendijk allowed no earned runs. Ryan Wise converted his 25th save in 28 tries.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the fifth, with the game tied, Preston Bostic was at the plate when Palm Beach scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Bums to go in front, 1-0.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Groenendijk.
The Bums raised their record to 60-85.
