Cyclones Lose, 7-4, at Penlee Park
|
Coney Island shortstop Tony Amaya had a good game, even if his team did not. The Cyclones dropped a 7-4 decision to West Virginia at Penlee Park. Amaya went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. West Virginia reliever John Swope picked up the win, bumping his record to 5-0. Byron McCabe was collared with the loss. The second-place Dancin' Outlaws are now 77-64, the Cyclones 61-81.
Kevin Howard swatted a 2-run double for West Virginia in the bottom of the fifth. The first baseman went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 4.
"It feels good to get this one," Howard told the West Virginia Today.
