Mustangs Prevail, 5-3, Over Eugene
|
The San Angelo Mustangs downed the Eugene Emeralds, 5-3, at Prefontaine Park. Antonio Santana led the way, going 3-for-5 for San Angelo. Tony Saldana earned the win to go to 5-1. He allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 12 strikeouts. Jim Padjen was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 30 save opportunities.
Santana had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-1 splitter from Jung-sang Lee, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Mustangs a 5-2 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Santana.
"This was a good win," said Santana.
The Mustangs bumped their record to 84-59 with this latest triumph.
