Pitcher Juan Lara was sensational for the Chippewa River Chiefs in his team's 3-1 triumph over the Victoria Vikings. Lara received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Lara, now 6-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. The River Chiefs bumped their record to 81-58 with this latest triumph.
Chippewa took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, catcher Norm Stewart hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Stewart told the Chippewa Today.
