Victory Pushes River Chiefs Record to 79-57
|
The inspired effort of Winfield first baseman Phil Dick was not enough to prevent a 7-5 loss to the Chippewa River Chiefs. Dick was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Brad Ide earned his 18th save in 22 chances. Chippewa is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The River Chiefs got a big at-bat from first baseman Ben Eisner. For the game, Eisner went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 21st home run of the season gave Chippewa a 4-2 lead.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Eisner, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
