Velásquez Helps Havana Cruise to 11-3 Win
|
The Havana Stogies beat the Columbus Aces, 11-3, at Central Park Downtown Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Jesús Velásquez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. The Stogies own a robust 45-19 mark.
The Stogies got a big at-bat from first baseman Reynaldo Aguilera. For the game, Aguilera went 1-6 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 19th home run of the season gave Havana a 2-0 lead.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Aguilera told the Havana Times. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
