Tornadoes Topple Mustangs as González Shines
|
The Kansas City Tornadoes downed the Mile High Mustangs, 10-4, at Debris Field. The Tornadoes were led by António González, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Even with the win, the Tornadoes have a dismal 20-43 record.
Matt Winters had a big 2-run single for the Tornadoes in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Kansas City leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from Alejandro Zorros and stroked the single to center. It was his 61st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tornadoes ahead, 4-1.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," González told the Kansas City Herald.
