In a low-scoring tilt between the Chippewa River Chiefs and the Stroudsburg Shade, Lorenzo Chavez was the difference-maker. The Chippewa left-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. Brad Ide, credited with the save, is now 16 for 20 in save opportunities. The River Chiefs bumped their record to 76-55 with this latest triumph.
The River Chiefs got a big at-bat from right fielder Bob Nisbet. For the game, Nisbet was 1-4. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 130th hit of the season gave Chippewa a 3-2 lead.
Nisbet called the win "a collective effort."
