Shade Squelch Bush Wackers Offense in Shutout Win
|
Stroudsburg and Brisbane duked it out at Baylor Ballpark and the Shade came out victorious.
The Stroudsburg Shade got a stellar performance from pitcher Jimmy Shumaker, who handcuffed the Brisbane offense en route to a 3-0 win at Baylor Ballpark. Shumaker, now 2-2, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. Liu-liang Ying, credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.
Stroudsburg used the timely hitting of Ron Gale to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put the Shade on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We didn't score," said losing manager Pete Barrett. "That was the problem."
The last-place Shade now have a win-loss record of 48-75.
