River Chiefs Win in Glorious Fashion
The St. Paul Saints got a sterling performance from first baseman Terry Simmon, but the River Chiefs still prevailed, 6-5. Simmon was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Chippewa reliever Brad Ide was credited with the win, to go to 9-3. John Benefield took the loss for St. Paul. The River Chiefs bumped their record to 68-52 with this latest triumph.

Juan Martínez was the walk-off hero for Chippewa. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the River Chiefs pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Martínez. "And not try to do too much."
