It was a good time at Tim Raines Stadium, where fans came to watch the St. Petersburg Pelicans and Stroudsburg Shade get after it.

The Stroudsburg Shade beat the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 8-3, at Tim Raines Stadium. The Shade got a fine performance from second baseman Sozui Nozaki, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. Stroudsburg reliever Jose Vasquez was credited with the win, to go to 10-6. Orlando Rivas took the loss for St. Petersburg. Vinny Caballero converted his 2nd save in 3 tries.

The Shade got a big at-bat from designated hitter Adam Downing. For the game, Downing went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 16th hit of the season gave Stroudsburg a 4-2 lead.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Downing. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

Stroudsburg currently is in last place in the Donnie Moore League Dusty Baker Division at 47-72.
