Akiyama Sensational for Hornets
|
Bethesda played host to Bel Air at the friendly confines of Hornets Field.
The Bethesda Hornets got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Ryuichi Akiyama, but it was good enough for the club to take a 6-1 decision over the Bel Air Princes. The Hornets bumped their record to 70-49 with this latest triumph.
Akiyama, a native of Tagajo, Japan, was dealing all game. He kept Bel Air hitters off-balance, while giving the Hornets 9 quality innings. Akiyama threw 114 pitches, allowing 6 hits and striking out 8.
Akiyama offered a curt "no comment" when asked to discuss the win after the game.
