|
Stroudsburg got a terrific game from designated hitter John Phillips. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to St. Petersburg, 10-4. Phillips was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Eduardo Alaniz got the win, improving to 3-0. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Ray Cummings earned his 2nd save in 2 chances.
Luis Castanon chipped in for St. Petersburg with a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 5 runs batted in.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Castanon told the St. Petersburg Gazette.
St. Petersburg is now 51-65, while Stroudsburg is 46-72.
