8 Straight Wins for Bush Wackers
|
The Brisbane Bush Wackers beat the Tree City Black Squirrels, 6-4, at The Nut House. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder Matt Rank, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Bobby Savoy was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 10 strikeouts. Jorge Rivera, credited with the save, is now 4 for 6 in save opportunities.
The Bush Wackers got a big at-bat from first baseman Insung Yaung. For the game, Yaung went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave Brisbane a 2-0 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Rank told reporters after the game.
The first-place Bush Wackers have won 8 straight games.
