Toreros Win at Maple, 7-3
|
The Maple Marauders got a superb performance from catcher Motonobu Yamasaki. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Cabo San Lucas. The Toreros won the game, 7-3. In spite of the loss, Yamasaki was named the player of the game. He went 2-2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs. Ashley Heath picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-5. He struck out 9 in 9 innings. The Toreros raised their record to 22-38.
Ramón Márquez, who is rated as the 57th best prospect by BNN, aided the Cabo San Lucas cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the third. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 5 with a double.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Márquez said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
