Big Day by Chavez Ignites Shade Win
|
The Stroudsburg Shade stopped the San Angelo Mustangs, 9-4, at Tim Raines Stadium. The Shade got a big game from David Chavez, who was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Sergio García got the win, improving to 5-5. He worked 5 innings, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The Shade improved to 41-59.
The Shade got a big at-bat from catcher Bill Beasley. For the game, Beasley went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 22nd hit of the season gave Stroudsburg a 5-4 lead.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Chavez.
