Tight Tilt Goes to Saints, 4-3
|
The Bethesda Hornets got a sterling performance from second baseman Nick Corpus, but the Saints still prevailed, 4-3. Corpus was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Teagan Cooper picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-9. He struck out 4 in 6 innings. The Saints bumped their record to 53-44 with this latest triumph.
The Saints got a big at-bat from third baseman Phil Evans. For the game, Evans was 1 for 2 with a walk. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 11th hit of the season gave St. Paul a 4-3 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Evans told the St. Paul News.
