Multi-HR Game for Mathias in 9-5 Win
|
The Eugene Emeralds defeated the Bel Air Princes, 9-5, in Donnie Moore League action at Prefontaine Park, with Eugene third baseman Ed Mathias named player of the game. Reliever Fernando Guzmán picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Manuel Pena took the loss. Cody Mason converted his 12th save in 15 tries.
Marcos Moreno was a key contributor to the win for the Emeralds. In the bottom of the fifth with two out, the light-hitting center fielder stroked a single to right. He went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Enjoyed this one," Moreno told the Eugene Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Emeralds bumped their record to 52-46 with this latest triumph.
