Kono Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Brisbane in Walk-Off Win
|
Brisbane right-hander Jose Artola made an effective start against the Palm Beach Bums at Baylor Ballpark, leading his team to a 2-1 win. Brisbane reliever Aaron Lyons picked up the win, upping his record to 5-7. Ryan Wise was saddled with the loss. The Bush Wackers bumped their record to 61-35 with this latest triumph.
The Bush Wackers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Hiroshi Kono. For the game, Kono went 2 for 5 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 46th hit of the season gave Brisbane a 2-1 lead.
"Both teams played hard," said Brisbane manager Pete Barrett.
