Vikings Win at San Angelo, 5-3
|
The Victoria Vikings topped the San Angelo Mustangs, 5-3, in Lyman Bostock League action at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium. The player of the game was Victoria pitcher Jack Thompson. Thompson, now 8-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 3 earned runs. Pete Murphy converted his 32nd save in 32 tries.
The Vikings got a big at-bat from center fielder Eizo Imai. For the game, Imai was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Victoria a 5-1 lead.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Imai told the Victoria Today.
The Vikings bumped their record to 60-36 with this latest triumph.
