Saints Come Back Late to Clip Cyclones
|
The Saints grabbed a win, 5-4, at Coney Island Coliseum, overcoming a fine effort from Coney Island pitcher Steve Rogers Jr.. Rogers Jr. went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Ruben Fernandez got the win, improving to 6-4. He worked 8 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 5. The Cyclones, now 40-53, have lost 4 straight.
The Saints got a big at-bat from second baseman Andy Cote. For the game, Cote was 1 for 4 with a walk. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 55th hit of the season gave St. Paul a 5-4 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Cote said.
