Mayhem gets 4 RBI, Republic Move to 41-19
|
The So Cal Republic topped the San Diego Hops, 7-4, with designated hitter Zeus Mayhem playing a big role. Mayhem went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Republic in the win. Jin-woo Pi picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-3. He struck out 6 in 5 innings. Pin-zhen Au was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 24 save opportunities.
Mayhem contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for So Cal in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-2, Mayhem took a fastball from John Curnew and stroked the home run to left-center. His 13th home run of the season allowed the Republic to leap in front, 5-3.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Randy England. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
So Cal has 3 straight wins, San Diego 11 straight losses.
