So Cal second baseman Donald Latulippe was instrumental in his team's 10-3 win over the Portland Beavers. Latulippe, who is a four-time All-Star, went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Republic. Mulia Kathirithamby closed it out for his 1st save. With the win, So Cal improves its record to 3-3.
Gerd Zabel, who is rated as the 7th best prospect by BNN, aided the So Cal cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the center fielder went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Zabel said.
