Pelicans Bang Out 12-4 Win Versus Stroudsburg
|
The St. Petersburg Pelicans and Stroudsburg Shade completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The St. Petersburg Pelicans stopped the Stroudsburg Shade, 12-4, at Billy Mathews Field. The Pelicans got a big game from Matt Roth, who was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Orlando Rivas got the save, his 1st in 1 chances.
The Pelicans got a big at-bat from center fielder Juan Mendez. For the game, Mendez went 2 for 5 with a double. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 18th hit of the season gave St. Petersburg a 2-1 lead.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said St. Petersburg manager Kurt Brumfield.
St. Petersburg now owns a record of 36-50.
