Conditions were not ideal but Stroudsburg and St. Petersburg were able to put their game in the books.
The Shade had to overcome a good performance from St. Petersburg pitcher Brad Leys to claim a 5-1 win at Billy Mathews Field. Leys went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Naoyuki Kikuchi, credited with the save, is now 3 for 5 in save opportunities.
Stroudsburg used the timely hitting of Kazuki Ito to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Shade on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Stroudsburg manager Juan Rivera. "It's usually not just one thing."
Stroudsburg has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
